As a side note, since my deletion, there is a young person who is DF ( I was on the JC), that when I run in to her at Walmart I say hi to and sometimes make small talk with her. She had fornicated, got pregnant, had the kid and got married to the fellow. She has no desire to come bacl to JW's. I feel really sorry for her, because she is a good kid, respectful, very pleasant to talk to. I think she has forgiven me for being harsh to her.

Former Long Time Elder - Judicial Committees
by James Jackson inwhen i first was appointed as an elder, i could not wait to be on a judicial committee.
it semed like most hearings invovled middle age men and women cheating on their mates because either they had married early or felt that were being neglected by their mate.
most times i felt i need to take a long hot shower after a hearing.. the toughest part was seeing these sweet young children grow up in "the truth", and now you are about to judge their future based on their repentance.

The toughest part was seeing these sweet young children grow up in "The Truth", and now you are about to Judge their future based on their Repentance. Many did not fully understand what it means to Repent(Insight vol #2 p.772). It was hard on me and other Elders because you "have to keep the Congregation clean" and not allow wronging to go unpunished, and thus they were Disfellowshipped. I have seen Elders openly cry, myself included, because we had to make the "Right Decision". Then at times, you have to talk to thier parents and other relatives about their association with a DF person. I have seen Committees DF or Reproved parents for not obeying the command to "Quit mixing in company...1 Cor.5:9" for keeping a relationship with their child. I hate to admitt it, I was on board with the B O E, "drinking the koolaid". Since my deletion over my son's DFing, I feel like Paul in this weeks Bible reading, the "scales" have fallen off my eyes.
In the Bible, we are reminded that when those were Baptized, it was Men and Women. Yet, we encourage Teenagers, even Preteens to get Baptized. Here in the US, you have to be 21 to buy a beer. But we are encouraging our young ones to take the most important step, decision in their lives at a young age! And if they do not get Baptised by a certain age, there is "something wrong with him or his parents".
We have a another former Elder (well qualified I might ad) in our Hall and I asked the COBE why is he not serving, his reply; "His child is not Baptized".

Former Long Time Elder, Part 4
by James Jackson inan elderly brother came up to me the other day and said: "you are a true christian"!
i asked him what he meant by that and he said because i "really care about the older ones in the congregation".
he went on to say that the elders and pioneers are so busy, they have to "get their time in the field service", no time left to check on the the older ones.

An elderly brother came up to me the other day and said: "You are a True Christian"! I asked him what he meant by that and he said because I "really care about the older ones in the congregation". He went on to say that the Elders and Pioneers are so busy, they have to "get their time in the Field Service", no time left to check on the the older ones. That statement really hit me, because I have heard many pioneers use the line this has got to wait because, "I Have To Get My Time In".
Someone asked for more info on my week at Patterson. When I first arrived, they handed us an envelope with a key(plastic card) to all the doors and 1 for your room. Also just basic info on how to dress while there, proper use of the Internet, and our class schedule (all these materials had to be returned upon leaving, even the class schedule). Every Elder was assigned a part in the classroom, either a talk, demo or conduct a meeting part, then the rest of the class gave comments or their observations on it. One thing I noticed that lacks in most Elders that conduct a Q&A part is that they (the conductor) talk too much. It was stressed the "Watchtower and Book Study Lessons belong to the Friends", not you. Just ask the questions," we do not need to your life story week after week". Still this goes in one ear out the other.
Each day was 8 hours of classroom instruction. I really enjoyed when it was focused on the Bible. I remember we did 4 hours on just Jehovah God, 4 hours on just Jesus, and 4 hours on why the NWT was the best Bible out there. Then we focused on the Art of Teaching, Proper Handling of Judicial cases etc.
I remember very well morning worship because Guy Pierce of the GB conducted it evry day that week, including the monday night WT lesson tide in from Brooklyn. My first time ever hearing him speak and did enjoy listening to him speak. More later

I don't not want to reveal my location because the wife and I are pretty active in the congregation and some posters are getting pretty close to my to my idenity by mentioning names of individuals I know personally.

School for Congregation Elders
by C.O.B.E.Beef ini attended the school late last year, and it was an emotional and mental rollercoaster for me.
i was already divided in my heart to say the least.
one of the instructors stayed in my home for the week, and my family genuinely enjoyed his company.
